Some Openlaw Screenshots

The four screenshots below show:

  • How you control Openlaw - from the Control Panel
  • How you can record information about a document in an Item/Document/Profile Card
  • How you can see this information beside a picture of the document - a Document Card and Image
  • A List of Documents - the Standard Report for Disclosure

The Control Panel

Openlaw litigation software is available in two versions:

  •  Openlaw Disclosure - for non-technical fee earners doing simple lists and

  •  Openlaw Professional - for those with advanced imaging and other requirements.

Both versions are run from a small Control Panel offering buttons to:

Search - for a selection of documents in a chosen order (e.g. date)

View - the current selection

Report - on the current selection

Save - the current selection as a Bundle

Load - a previously saved selection or Bundle

An Item/Document/Profile Card

Information about an Item (usually a document) is entered into boxes as shown here. Names and file codes can be picked from a list. The wording as it will appear in the printed list is displayed as you type. This is often all you need for Disclosure, but if you want to add more information you can.   See the Walkthrough on Data Profiling for full details of information you can store about an Item.

A Document Card and Image

An image of the document appears beside the Document Card as shown below. You can make it fill the screen with a single click. It can be printed either singly or as part of a Bundle. You can have two copies – a unmarked one and one redacted (partially obscured) for Disclosure – and switch between them.

A Standard Report for Disclosure

It takes two clicks to make the Report shown below. This can be saved as a Microsoft Word file and merged with the firm’s standard List format, or sent to Excel for further analysis.

Producing your list in this way requires no more work, expense or technical skill than putting the same information into a word processor. With Openlaw, however, you can sort, classify, query, print or exchange data at once and can re-use the same information for the life of the case, adding detail as needed.

With Openlaw, once you have selected the documents you want included, it is simple to print the Disclosure Bundle, Exhibits, Issue Bundles and Trial Bundles, with a paginated index, and images of all the documents, in the correct order.
