This tab is intended for background information about the actual physical document that is represented by the Item - where it came from, where it is now, who disclosed it. Information you enter here serves both as codes to find Items by - you can search for everything in a particular file, or discriminate between documents served by different parties - and as useful facts and comments which would otherwise have to be noted separately.

Index No, Document Type and Party are self-explanatory. Start No and End No can be used to record the first and last page numbers of a Document (e.g. where sequential numbers have been stamped on the pages).
Subject: is intended to be used for an expanded description - perhaps more than you would want to put in a Disclosure List for your opponents, but enough to help your team identify the Document.
In practice you can use any of these fields for any purpose.
