Option 1 - Include any attachments as an integral part of the Item
This approach is simple and straightforward:
| • | Any image of an Item includes attachments for that Item. |
| • | Any decision on privilege, and as to whether the Item is in or out of the List, applies to the entire Item including the attachments. |
| • | The Item description can include a reference to the attachments (if desired - this may help with anticipated searches for the Item). |
| • | Documents which are attached to more than one Item are scanned and listed as part of each of the Items they are attached to. |
| • | A search for a sender or recipient of an attached Item will not find the Item unless the names have been entered somewhere as part of the information about the parent Item. |
There is no need to use the Attachment options of Openlaw at all if you deal with attachments in this way, which is the simplest approach.

The numbering then matches that on the Item Cards. The Bundle Numbers will become the Item Numbers in the exported Case. |

There is no need to use the Attachment options of Openlaw at all e.g. when printing Reports, saving Bundles or printing images. You will not be offered such options if you have no Attachment links. If you have set up such links purely for reference purposes, you can ignore the options.
