You do not have to set Licence Options to run a Case.
However, you may want to review or change the Options set up for a Case.
Introduction
Openlaw can be customised at various levels. The section on Variants and Customisation explains the broad differences between versions.
The licence file contains a number of options which allow customisation of the Openlaw Case. Access to these options is via Case Setup.
A copy case Setup is supplied with every copy of Openlaw.
Begin by selecting your Case Licence file.

Before running Verifier you will be encouraged to make a Backup of your case.


After running Verifier you will be encouraged to set up users.

Accessing the Options
To access Set Licence Options, run Case Setup and pick a Case by selecting its licence file (ending in .lic) from the Case directory. You are warned to back up your licence file and then taken to the screen shown below. The top box offers no options - it is a statement of what licence-type you have.

The main highlight window lists all the options relevant to that licence-type which can be set by the Administrator. If the licence shown above had been a Read-Only licence then many of the options would not have been listed. This tool only allows you to refine options to which you are entitled already, not to add others.
Most of these settings are aimed at simplifying the user's task by removing access to options which are not needed for the present Case. So, if you have right to use Item Links but a decision has been made that the Case will not use them, there is no point in displaying the Item Links Tab. This is where you can turn it off.
Making Changes
For each option, there is a setting Check Box and an explanation. If the option has a tick in the Settings box, then the option has been enabled and the explanation will be in green. If it is unticked, the option is presently switched off and the text is in red. There is a button to set all the settings on.
One option requires further input than merely On/Off. The Check-Box setting allows you to decide how many Check-Boxes are made available up to the maximum of 44.
User Settings
Note that these settings affect the entire Case. There is another tier of settings within the Case itself which can be altered by users themselves and which affect only the user making the changes. These are described in a Manual section called User Changeable Settings
