This is a menu operated function in the Control Panel Data menus.

The box simply called Text is meant for holding OCR text (that is, text which has been extracted from an image by Optical Character Recognition - see the section called Searching Text). This is often contracted out to a bureau and the facility described below allows you to import it globally.

This function will look in the sub-directory \Text for any file whose name matches an Item Number in the current Selection and insert that text in the field called Text - the one intended to hold OCR text.

 

The contents of a file called 17.txt will go into the Text field of Item 17 if that Item is in the current Selection.
