Introduction - Control Panel

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

All the main functions are controlled from the Control Panel. This shows (on a yellow flash) the total number of Items in the Case and (on a green flash) the number of Items in the current Selection.  You are always working in a Selection, which may be all the Items or only some of them (e.g. 15 out of 25 as shown here). A Selection is made by taking one of the Query Options.

The order of the Items in the Selection (e.g. Item number order, or date order) is usually fixed by choosing an Index order at the time of making the Selection.

From here, you can make a new Selection, View the current Selection, Report on the current Selection, or Save and load Bundles. There is a Menu across the top.

The Menu options are:

Case from which you can claim or surrender Exclusive Use (you can do this more easily by double-clicking on the Case name immediately below the Menu), and can Compact and Backup the databases in the Case. There are some User-Changeable Settings and User-Defined Lists, together with options to GoTo Image Pages.

Data gives access to various sub-menus from which you can make changes to all the Items in the Case or in your Selection. You can define the Names of the individuals and organisations who are the players in the Case, globally set or change numbers and data, Find and Replace the contents of fields, define and use Image Sets, and Import and Export data.

Query allows you to pick one of several Query Types. The last one picked from here becomes the default Query invoked by the button Make a new Selection.
